Performs the duties required to implement, monitor, assess, and foster the growth of the Native American Education Program and Title VI.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required. Teacher certification as set by state certification authorities preferred.

 

REPORTS TO:   Coordinator of Federal Programs  

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Acts as advocate/liaison between the District and the Native American community and students.
  2. Seeks scholarship opportunities for Title VI students.
  3. Implement, assess, and provide a means of evaluation for the Native American Education Program
  4. Coordinates with community agencies providing cultural advocacy, academic, vocational and other services to the Indian Education participants in the MPS Indian Education program.
  5. Assists with reporting for grant preparation, operation including assigned budgets, monitoring and reporting for the district, state, and federal reports as needed.
  6. Over-sees the implementation and scheduling of Title VI tutoring
  7. Assists regular teachers and counselors with general academic advising of Native American students. 
  8. Provides the American Indian Parent Committee with relevant information concerning legislature, school procedures/policies/ and other pertinent items of interest. 
  9. Stays current on issues pertaining to the educational needs of Native American youth. 
  10. Assists with the preparation of grant applications, program evaluations, and other reports.
  11. Effectively integrates technology to enhance and support instruction.
  12. Works with staff to ensure compliance with program regulations, standards, timelines, and data collection requirements as needed.
  13. Coordinates and implements effective referral services.
  14. Develops a plan for utilizing community resources. Works closely with other private and public agencies to meet the special needs of Native American students and families.
  15. Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students in the school setting.
  16. Participate in continued Professional Development and Personal Growth.
  17. Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, and their parents.
  18. Compiles, maintains, and file all reports, records and other documents required.
  19. Identify students to recruit and certify into the Indian Education, Title VI program.
  20. Assists the Coordinator of Federal Programs when needed.
  21. Adhere to all Mustang Public Schools policies and procedures.
  22. Other duties as assigned.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Number of days and compensation based on Board approved personnel salary schedule and employee work calendars.

 

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Coordinator of Federal Programs.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Ability to stand, walk, squat frequently.

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently.
