Performs the duties required to implement, monitor, assess, and foster the growth of the Native American Education Program and Title VI.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree required. Teacher certification as set by state certification authorities preferred.
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Federal Programs
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Acts as advocate/liaison between the District and the Native American community and students.
- Seeks scholarship opportunities for Title VI students.
- Implement, assess, and provide a means of evaluation for the Native American Education Program
- Coordinates with community agencies providing cultural advocacy, academic, vocational and other services to the Indian Education participants in the MPS Indian Education program.
- Assists with reporting for grant preparation, operation including assigned budgets, monitoring and reporting for the district, state, and federal reports as needed.
- Over-sees the implementation and scheduling of Title VI tutoring
- Assists regular teachers and counselors with general academic advising of Native American students.
- Provides the American Indian Parent Committee with relevant information concerning legislature, school procedures/policies/ and other pertinent items of interest.
- Stays current on issues pertaining to the educational needs of Native American youth.
- Assists with the preparation of grant applications, program evaluations, and other reports.
- Effectively integrates technology to enhance and support instruction.
- Works with staff to ensure compliance with program regulations, standards, timelines, and data collection requirements as needed.
- Coordinates and implements effective referral services.
- Develops a plan for utilizing community resources. Works closely with other private and public agencies to meet the special needs of Native American students and families.
- Consult and collaborate with teachers, staff and parents in understanding and meeting the needs of students in the school setting.
- Participate in continued Professional Development and Personal Growth.
- Maintains a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, and their parents.
- Compiles, maintains, and file all reports, records and other documents required.
- Identify students to recruit and certify into the Indian Education, Title VI program.
- Assists the Coordinator of Federal Programs when needed.
- Adhere to all Mustang Public Schools policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Number of days and compensation based on Board approved personnel salary schedule and employee work calendars.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Coordinator of Federal Programs.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to stand, walk, squat frequently.
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds frequently. |
