Position Description:
The Licensed Mental Health Professional is a contracted position responsible for providing school-based therapeutic services to students identified and referred by the Student Advocacy program for victims of crime.
Qualifications:
Credentials: Licensed Professional Counselor/Licensed Social Worker/ Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (or ability to obtain professional license within 12 months of hire) Preference of an emphasis in trauma-based therapeutic services for children.
Special Skills, Knowledge, abilities:
Communication Skills (oral, written, or business): Basic communication skills to exchange information, give/receive simple to more complex instructions and respond to inquiries.
- Demonstrated understanding and appreciation of diversity.
- A high level of organizational skills and initiative.
- Experience and training in mental health support.
- Ability to attend to relationships with students.
- Highly organized and dependable.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain and foster professional relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Collaborates with VOCA staff to provide best services and identify students’ needs
- Abides by all state and federal laws regarding the confidentiality and privacy of education records and patient healthcare records and students with disabilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to routinely and continually bend, squat, stand, walk, or climb stairs. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to do outside duties in inclement weather. Ability to support and stabilize students with physical disabilities.
